PENN CAN SPEEDWAY TO HOST NORTHEAST SMALL CAR CLASSIC LABOR DAY WEEKEND

   Susquehanna, PA…The promotional team of Al Wilcox and Reed Miller have been busy putting together an aggressive 2010 season at the Susquehanna County oval. In their fourteen years at the helm Wilcox and Miller have always opened the doors to many different divisions of racing at the three eighths mile facility. They are now thrilled to announce a big Labor Day Weekend event titled the Parts Peddler Northeast Small Car Classic featuring four small car divisions of racing. The race will be run Sunday afternoon September 5^th.

  “We have worked closely with Doug Borger of Xcel Chassis and after a November 16^th testing session at the speedway with both the Xcel 600 modifieds and a 600 sprint cars we decided to put on a big race for these guys,” explains Miller. “The Xcel modifieds have been with us for the past several years and they put on an excellent show at our track.”

   The Xcel modifieds will be in competition along with the 600 sprint cars. The 600 sprints will run with wings which should attract cars from both Pennsylvania and New York. They will be joined by a combined show featuring the New York Empire Lightning mini sprints vs the Pennsylvania Sidewinder sprints. This should insure a great field of mini sprints for the Sunday afternoon show. The fourth exciting small car group invited to participate will be the extremely popular Slingshots.

   “We want to make this an annual event for these race teams. We are working with sponsors and think the purse we can offer will make the event a real great day of racing,” states Wilcox. “We are presently talking with speedways that run these cars on a regular basis to set up guaranteed representatives from the various tracks.
